I teach art there twice a month. I teach first grade through 6th. Currently there is not a 6th grade class. This short time does not qualify for grades. I do however have a few bilingual students who speak english and spanish. There is one student that is Danish and speaks very little English.
As the art teacher, I teach basics or extend that to different materials not typically used as traditional mediums. I do not have a designated classroom. Therefore I prepare everything earlier or prior to the day of class via a cart. It is art on a cart! We only have about 45 minutes to do anything. I believe the students are supposed to do standardized testing twice a year but they look forward to my class and will make testing schedules around the two days a month.

About the Class You Observed
1. How much time is devoted each day to instruction in the classroom? Describe the class periods (if applicable)? Choose a content area of your specialty or major. How much time is devoted to teaching that subject?
- Many of my students end up wanting me to do the project for them so instruction for how to do it via my own project and not theirs, is done throughout the class period. However each class will have students who also work at their own pace.

I know what students can color mix and which ones cannot, and those who enjoys drawing or painting.. Two of my students have their family’s going through divorce. Many of my students enjoy kiss fm radio and different video games. They are extremely curious about my interests and if we can do some of them in the class.

The best day was last weeks project with my first graders. I was asked to help making some art for grandparents day dinner. So I had them paint pinecones. I only gave them the three primary colors and had them practice their color mixing skills. The first grade teacher was impressed they were so behaved and did so well. I went through the color wheel a few times and had them answer questions as a group throughout the period.
