About the Class You Observed
1. How much time is devoted each day to instruction in the classroom? Describe the class periods (if applicable)? Choose a content area of your specialty or major. How much time is devoted to teaching that subject?
47 minute periods. Instruction is not timed, it's taught to class seems to fully understand the material. Classrooms were willing to listen and learn at all cost besides 1-2 people per class.
2. Is there any ability grouping or tracking? If so, please describe how it affects your class.
I think the teacher supervised was very beneficial to students and is willing to work one on one if neccessary for a student. Grouping would work with these high schoolers.
3. Identify any textbook or instructional program you primarily use for instruction. If a textbook, please provide the title, publisher, and date of publication.
Primary not much use out of a textbook.
4. List other resources (e.g., SMARTBoard, manipulatives, online resources) used for instruction in this class.
Smartboard, tablets, chromebooks.
5. What do you know about what your students know, what can they do, and what are they learning to do? What do you know about your students’ everyday experiences, cultural backgrounds and practices, and interests?
Most students understood the material taught that day, only 1 or 2 struggled and it was easy to tell which ones they were. They were learning about trigonometric functions. Not sure about students everyday experiences or cultural background but had a good idea of students interests.
6. Describe one teaching event. What best practices in teaching were used?
The teachers ability to teach the material to the students was very well. Very understanding and communicated well with them.
